The adidas Superstar was the first low-top leather basketball shoe to be made. Due to its iconic rubber toe box, the sneaker became known as "The Shell Toe". It was adopted by the hip-hop culture and especially Run-DMC adopted it making the sneaker very popular in the late eighties. Superstar was first released in 1969.
